Going Behind the Seeds At Epcot

Walt Disney didn’t just love to entertain, he loved to educate. Throughout his career, the man that millions knew as Uncle Walt used the mediums of television, film, and even his theme parks to teach, Under his supervision, the company created films like Our Friend The Atom, Man In Space, Donald In Mathmagic Land, and the True Life Adventure Series.

Disney carries on Walt’s educational legacy to this day. You see it in the World Showcase at Epcot, or in Attractions like Living With The Land in Epcot’s Future World. Disney also offers an in depth look at current innovations in agriculture through the Behind the Seeds Tour.

Here’s what you need to know about this one-of-a-kind experience.

1. What Is It?

Behind the Seeds is a walking tour through the four greenhouses and fish farm seen in the Living With The Land Attraction. It allows Guests to get up close and personal with the various crops being grown and hear more detailed explanations of the growing techniques being used. Guests are also given the opportunity to feed the fish, sample some of the food being grown, and some will even be allowed to release ladybugs to aid in pest control.

2. How Much Does It Cost?

Behind the Seeds is one of Walt Disney World’s more affordable tours. Adult tickets are $25, and children’s are $20.

3. How Long Does It Take?

The entire tour lasts one hour. Be aware that you are walking or standing throughout.

4. How Do You Book The Tour?

You can make advance reservations prior to your tour or book on the same day. Disney asks that Guests arrive at the Tour Desk on the lower level of The Land pavilion 15 minutes prior to the start of the tour. There are multiple tours a day, with tour groups ranging between 10 to 15 Guests. The tours start every 45 minutes from 10:30-4:30. Disney does require at least two days notice for cancellations. Cancelling a reservation within 48 hours of your tour, or failing to show up, does result in forfeit of the entire price of your tickets.

The Behind The Seeds tour is quintessential Epcot, slower and more in depth than the experiences typically found in a theme park. For Guests of all ages, it provides an incredible opportunity to learn more about the amazing world we inhabit.
